Anna Murfin, Ceramicist at Madison Green Festival

Biography

Anna Murfin is an internationally exhibited artist who completed a degree in ceramics at the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom. In 2009, she created a piece of sound art that was exhibited at the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, Connecticut and was available as a podcast. Also in 2009, she accepted a one-month Artist-in-Residence position at the Art League of New Britain in Connecticut. In 2010, her work was exhibited and sold in a variety of galleries in the north of England and her work was shown at the prestigious New Designers Show in London, UK. She re-located to Connecticut, USA in 2011. In mid 2011, Anna joined Canton Clay Works, Connecticut where she was an Artist-in-Residence and taught classes in handbuilding in clay. In 2013, she accepted a 3-month Artist-in-Residence position at the Farmington Valley Arts Center exploring the ideas of portraiture and lost family stories which culminated in a show at the Drezner Gallery at FVAC. She has had a variety of solo and duo shows in galleries throughout Connecticut showcasing her ceramic work in the past four years. This year, however, Anna is introducing her ceramic work to Connecticut and beyond at Fine art and fine craft shows. Her works, mainly in clay, as a ceramicist, with an emphasis on wood, salt and soda pieces. She works often with unusual objects to create bricolage jewelry that is both unique and unusual, and strays into drawing and painting when the urge takes her. Anna is currently teaches classes in ceramics, jewelry and inspiration.
