Biography

I can honestly say that I don’t know, or am not clear on how I figured out how to create my designs. I am not an artists by education, and wasn’t even thinking of doing something like this; it just happened.

It somehow all started when I was in school two four years ago. While I was completing my internship, I happen to see a picture in a magazine of a flower that was created with a few pieces of sea glass. The sea glass was simply glued on top of framed glass. I was intrigued with the simplicity of it and uniqueness of the design being on top of, rather than, behind glass. The wheels went in to motion, but it would be a few more months before I actually tried to make my little sailboats.

After graduation and with no job in sight, I decided to make a few sailboat designs and try to enter a craft show. I hoped that I would sell at least one of my creations, and I would be happy. I sold out that day; beginners luck so I thought. I entered another show, and sure enough, I sold out, again. At this point I decided to pursue my artistic talent and kick my degree to the curb.

As time goes on, my designs have become more sophisticated, although I make sure they remain sweet and quirky, and totally whimsical. I also use recycled pottery shards for my sailboats. I’ve come to realize that what I am actually making, are sweet little snapshots of my life living on the coast.

I am now branching out and making designs with polymer clay and driftwood. It was a natural progression for me to do this, and I really enjoy using these new mediums to create new forms of artwork.

I attend as a vendor, many art shows including the Arts Center Killngworth’s annual Autumn Arts Festival on the Madison Green, and my designs can be found in several shops in Fairfield County and at Spectrum Art Gallery and Store in Centerbrook, CT.
