Biography

Self-taught crafter Joanne Brown (Mottsie) designs floral ornaments of mixed media, collected over years of travel, including tapestry, silk flowers, glass beads, found metal, yarn and a variety of fabrics. Born in Boston, MA, she was encouraged as a child to express her creativity in hobbies such as calligraphy, Chinese brush painting, oils and pastels, egg decorating, miniatures, cake decorating, and sewing among others! Throughout her adult life and over 30 years of traveling, Joanne was fortunate to meet and work with many talented people allowing her creative side to flourish.

Living in Hartford, CT, she began creating ornaments as gifts, and for over 10 years, has donated trees to Connecticut’s Wadsworth Museum “Festival of Trees.” Recently inspired by her daughter, Jennifer, Joanne created her business, Mottsie and Me, to now offer her artwork for sale.
