Biography

Melissa Punzalan is a jewelry artist whose work is inspired by a love of pattern and repetition. Ever the observer, she draws inspiration from everything around her- the veined pattern of a leaf, swirls of gasoline in a puddle, the random cracks in a sidewalk. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Eastern Connecticut State University, with a concentration in Sculpture. Passionate about jewelry, she is both a maker and collector of wearable art. The process of jewelry making is a form of meditation for her, as well as play. She views the wearing of it as a delightful means of self-expression. Melissa enjoys working with a variety of materials. Her most recent work includes etched brass and copper as well as handmade paper and clay beads.
