If you have always wanted to paint in oil, this class is for you. A wonderful and flexible medium, oil allows for corrections. Explore material usage, color, value, design and composition as well as negative and positive space. Focusing on the basics, this class series includes teacher demonstrations and individual instruction and guidance. Beginners as well as those with little experience, will build a foundation in oil while having fun in a small, non-intimidating environment. Material list available.

Nationally acclaimed teaching artist, Mary Green La Forge creates a special world through watercolor and oil. Her favorite subjects are florals and winter landscapes. Her love of nature is reflected in her extensive personal gardens and her interpretations of floral arrangements. Her works capture the freshness and light of the natural environment with rich yet transparent colors of her watercolors and the brilliant colors of her oils. The results are impressionistic paintings that go beyond realism to capture a moment in time.

Her watercolor and oil paintings have won major awards and are featured in galleries, private and corporate collections throughout the country, including Merrill Lynch, American Re-Insurance, Eden Institute and Saint Mary's Foundation and University of Connecticut. Her works have been published in books such as The Artistic Touch 6. Her art has been shown at multiple museums, including the Philadephia Museum of Art.

Mary has been an art instructor for over 30 years, and currently teaches watercolor and oil painting in the Lyme, CT area.
